Cinema 2025: Is AI a Creative Tool or a Danger?

In recent years, artificial intelligence in film has found its way into almost every creative process. From scriptwriting to the creation of images and videos, AI is transforming the way audiovisual projects are conceived and produced. For us, as independent filmmakers relaunching our path in Spain, one question is inevitable: Is AI a tool that enhances creativity, or a threat to those of us trying to break into the industry?

AI in Cinema: A Powerful Creative Ally

On the one hand, it’s undeniable that AI applied to audiovisual production can become a valuable ally. Tools capable of generating storyboards in minutes, editing clips with precision, or creating complex visual atmospheres save time and open up possibilities that were once only available to large studios.

For small projects like ours, this means we can compete in quality without the need for huge budgets. The democratization of technology can serve as a powerful driver, giving new voices the opportunity to thrive in the film industry.

The Challenges of Artificial Intelligence in Film

However, every technological breakthrough also brings important concerns. Where does artistic authorship stand when an algorithm proposes scenes or dialogue? How can the rights of screenwriters and directors be protected against programs capable of replicating their style?

As immigrant audiovisual entrepreneurs in Spain, we feel a strong responsibility to defend authenticity. What truly connects with an audience is not only technical perfection, but the emotional truth behind each film.

Using AI as a Tool, Not a Substitute

That’s why we believe the path forward lies in learning to use artificial intelligence as a creative tool, not as a replacement. AI can help us test ideas, visualize concepts, and save time in technical processes—but the original spark, emotion, and personal perspective remain irreplaceable.

The future of cinema will not be the exclusive product of algorithms, but a fusion between cutting-edge technology and human sensitivity.

AI in Film: A New Paradigm for 2025

Ultimately, AI is neither an inevitable threat nor a magic wand—it’s a paradigm shift that challenges us to adapt. As Venezuelan creators who have emigrated to Spain, we see it as another opportunity for reinvention. Just as in our personal lives, in cinema too, we believe resilience and adaptability are essential.

Artificial intelligence is here to stay, and it’s up to us to turn it into a driving force that allows us to keep telling stories with authenticity.
